Rescue Diver £325
Imagine the scene: You spot a diver who has just surfaced and appears to be panicking. You shout "Are you ok?"; to which you get no response! Would you know what to do?
The Rescue Diver Course will teach you to learn to look beyond yourself and consider the safety and well being of other divers, whilst providing you with the technical skills to do this. This course provides you with an important step towards self-reliance by expanding the basic problem management prevention and accident management skills you learn beginning with the PADI Open Water Diver course
What's included?
PADI Open Water E Learning
All Kit
All Air fills
All Pool Tuition minimum 4 two hour sessions
Open Water Tuition 1 day
By it's nature the course is demanding, though realistic in it's conduct, content and approach and although the context in which the training is used is serious, the course is an enjoyable challenge that builds diver confidence .
You must already hold the PADI Advanced Open Water Certification as a requirement to starting this course. In order to complete the Rescue Diver Course you must have undertaken a recognised 1st aid qualification within the last 2 years. If you don't already hold this qualification then we offer the Emergency First Response course.
The PADI Rescue Diver Course is divided into three sections: Knowledge Development; Rescue Exercises; and Open Water Scenarios
Knowledge Development
There are five knowledge development sections which cover the Pyschology of Rescue, Being Prepared for a Diver Emergency, Accident Management and Responding to Diver Emergencies. Student divers complete this section of the course by studying independently using the PADI Rescue Diver E-Learning and completing the knowledge reviews and exam within it.
Rescue Exercises
Here we practice the techniques that will make you a complete Rescue Diver as well as learning the skills to help you work as a rescue team. You will learn the essential skills to deal effectively with:
Tired divers, panicked divers, responding from the shore / boat / dock to a responsive diver, a distressed diver underwater, a missing diver, surfacing an unresponsive diver, unresponsive diver at the surface, exiting the unresponsive diver, First Aid for pressure related injuries and oxygen administration, response from shore / boat to unresponsive (non-breathing) diver at the surface
You will initially learn these techniques in a swimming pool environment and then transfer them to the open water prior to bringing it all together in the two Rescue Scenarios.
Open Water Rescue Scenarios
The rescue skills learned during the Rescue Training Sessions form the foundation for dive emergency management. The two dive accident scenarios in open water give you the opportunity to apply all these skills in a realistic context as a rescue team. You will react to and manage the following two scenarios in open water:
Unresponsive diver underwater - where you will search and locate a missing diver during an accident simulation.
Unresponsive diver at the surface - where you will effectively evaluate, tow, in-water rescue breathing, removing equipment, exiting and CPR.
Entrance to dive sites is an additional cost.
