Take the first step in your dive career and join the ranks of the dive industry's most respected dive professionals by becoming a PADI Divemaster. As a PADI Divemaster, you are qualified to supervise dive activities; assist PADI Instructors with student divers; independently conduct certain PADI programmes such as Scuba Review, Discover Local Diving, Skin Diver; and earn certain PADI Speciality Instructor ratings.

Divemaster training develops your leadership abilities by training you to supervise dive activities and assist instructors with student divers. Working closely with an instructor, you'll expand your dive knowledge and hone your skills as you become a dive professional.

What does the course include?
The PADI Divemaster Course consists of three basic sections: Knowledge Development; Water Skills and Practical Application.
Knowledge Development consists of nine topics which you'll cover through independent study via E- Learning and discussions with your instructor. When you're ready you'll take the PADI Divemaster Final Exam which covers the different study areas and is part of the E-Learning package.
The Waterskills section develops and evaluates your overall waterskills and improves your existing dive skills. The section includes timed swims, rescue evaluation and refining your basic scuba skills so that you can role model for beginning divers learning those skills.
The Practical Application portion consists of projects, workshops and applying what you've learned in real or simulated divemaster situations. You'll develop your abilities as a PADI Divemaster in training and nontraining situations, either working with actual students and divers under instructor supervision, or in simulated practice sessions.

Prerequisites

- Certified as a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver and a PADI Rescue Diver (or equivalent certification from another training agency)
- 18 years or older
- Logged 40 scuba dives
- Completed EFR Primary and Secondary Care training within 24 months (or suitable first aid course)
- Medically evaluated and cleared for diving by a physician within 12 months
- On completion of the course you are required to pay a membership fee to PADI
