Emergency First Response (EFR)
The Emergency First Response Primary Care (CPR) and Secondary Care (First Aid) course gives you the skills you need to give aid to those with life-threatening emergencies and assist those in need when Emergency Medical Services are either delayed or unavailable. During the Primary Care section participants learn how to give emergency care for life-threatening problems such as heart stoppage, someone who's not breathing, someone who is bleeding badly, someone who is in shock and someone with a spinal injury. Participants will also be trained in the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
This Secondary Care section prepares participants to render emergency care for common first aid problems that are not immediately life threatening and includes illness assessment, injury assessment, bandaging and splinting for dislocations and fractures.
Participants follow the same priorities of care used by professional emergency care providers through knowledge development, skill development and realistic scenarios. It's an excellent course and the instructors help to make the learning of a serious subject fun.
The course is open to participants of any age and is suitable for both divers and non-divers.
To do the Rescue Diver Course you must have undertaken a recognised First Aid qualification within the last 2 years. If you don't already have this qualification then the EFR course is ideal for you.

Care for Children (CFC)
The Emergency First Response Care for Children course teaches people how to provide emergency care for injured or ill children and infants. You'll learn the types of medical emergencies children face and how they differ from adult conditions. The course also addresses the emotional aspects of caring for children, secondary care for children and preventing common injuries and illnesses in children.
The course includes both CPR and first aid skills. The primary care portion of the course prepares you to render aid to an infant or child with a life-threatening emergency such as choking or cardiac arrest. Secondary care focuses on developing secondary patient care skills and building your confidence to give first aid to an infant or child in need.
Please note that you only need to hold the Emergency First Response or equivalent to complete the Rescue Diver Course. You do not need to have the Care for Children qualification.
