Q: I'm interested in learning to dive but not ready for a full course yet. Do you offer try dive sessions, and when are they available?
A: Our Try Dive sessions run every Thursday evening during pool sessions, priced at £25 per person. It's a fantastic opportunity to experience diving firsthand and discover how quickly you can get comfortable underwater.
Q: Where do you complete your pool training?
A: We use Cripps Triology Pool in the grounds of Northampton General Hospital every Thursday evening, 7.30 to 9.30pm.
Q: I recently completed a Discover Scuba Diving course on holiday and want to pursue diving further. What's the next step?
A: Your next step is the PADI Open Water Diver Course, qualifying you to dive with a buddy to 18 meters.
Q: How large are your classes?
A: Typically, our group sizes don't exceed 4 individuals, ensuring personalized attention.
Q: What do I need to begin the course?
A: All necessary equipment and materials are included in the course cost, so you need nothing extra to start. As you progress, you may decide to acquire your own scuba kit gradually.
Q: How old do you have to be to enroll in a course?
A: The minimum age for the Open Water Diver course is 10 years old. There's no maximum age limit as long as you're fit and healthy. The PADI Seal Team program is available for ages 8 and up, designed for pool-based activities.
Q: How long does it take to learn to dive?
A: We aim to complete the Open Water course in 7 weeks, including 6 pool sessions and an Open Water weekend. Additional pool sessions may be available if needed.
Q: What's it like diving at Stoney Cove?
A: Stoney Cove, once a quarry, is now one of Europe's busiest inland diving spots. It offers excellent facilities including changing rooms, toilets, showers, a bar, restaurant, and a shop.
Q: What should I bring to the pool on the first day?
A: Just bring your swimming costume, towel, a sense of humour, and eagerness to have fun. We provide all necessary equipment and instruction.
Q: Do I need to be a confident swimmer to participate in scuba diving classes?
A: While you don't need to be a strong swimmer, you should be comfortable in water and capable of swimming 200 meters in any stroke and treading water for 10 minutes before Open Water Diver certification.
Q: I wear contact lenses. Will that be a problem?
A: Not at all! Many divers wear contact lenses, and you can close your eyes for any mask skills during training.
