Open Water Scuba Instructor £1970
​Optional Master Scuba Diver Trainer extension £600

Additional PADI Instructor Exam Fees £1221 (2025 pricing - payable to PADI) - plus £56.40 per speciality if MSDT option selected


​The Instructor Development Course comprises two segments: the Assistant Instructor course and the Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) program.
​
Candidates who complete the entire Instructor Development Course, or Assistant Instructors who proceed to finish the Open Water Scuba Instructor program, are eligible to enroll in a PADI Instructor Examination (IE) overseen by PADI staff. Additional training to teach PADI Specialties and attain the Master Scuba Diver Trainer rating is also available once 25 student certifications are attained.

Additional Costs
  • PADI Fees (Instructor £224.40 and EFR £140.40) - payable to PADI on qualification
  • Instructor Examination Fee (£786 2024 pricing scale) - payable to PADI prior to starting the Instructor Exam
  • Entrance to open water sites for training

The Instructor Exam evaluates candidates' teaching ability, dive knowledge, skill level, understanding of the PADI System, attitude, and professionalism using standardized, objective criteria. Conducted over 2 days, the exam includes theory exams, classroom presentations, confined and open water skill demonstrations.

Upon meeting the performance criteria, candidates attain the PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) rating.

As an Open Water Scuba Instructor, you'll be qualified to conduct the full range of PADI courses from Open Water up to Divemaster. Specialty Instructor training can be completed as part of your Instructor Development Course or pursued later to achieve your Master Scuba Diver Trainer rating. The subsequent steps include becoming a PADI Staff Instructor, enabling you to assist on Instructor Development Courses, followed by advancement to Master Instructor.
